Welcome to the N3HF Amateur Radio IRLP Repeater located in Silver Spring Maryland, this repeater provides coverage within a 35 mile radius of Washington DC. The repeater operates on a frequency of 443.450 MHz out / 448.450 MHz In with a PL tone of 156.7Hz. The Repeater is located near the intersection of Rt.29 and New Hampshire Ave. This repeater is also equipped with auxillary receive sites located in Tysons Corner VA and in Burtonsville MD. This repeater is also equipped with a Weather alerting receiver in the event of any severe weather condition.
This IRLP node is located by the courtesy of John WA3MNN at his home QTH. The repeater also provides as a backup resource for Amateur Radio operators to provide communications in the event of an emergency situation, such as hurricanes, rescue operations, and evacuation. All visiting amateur operators are welcome to use the repeater and the IRLP / Echo/IRLP functions.
ARRL bulletins and the RAIN report are aired every Saturday night at 20:00 hours.
ARRL Section Nets are held every 3rd Friday of the month at 20:00 hours, All are welcome to check in.
A few comments from the repeater sysop regarding the external interference. (popping noise)
Before thinking that your antenna maybe loose, Users please bear in mind the Amatuer Radaio Service are considered to be the secondary users in the 420-450 Mhz band. The Federal Government as the primary user of this band operates (EPLRS) Enhanced Position Location Reporting System, which is a secure communication network employing a frequency hopping spread spectrum method that is primarily for data distribution and position location and reporting.
